Parking arrangements could use improvement!!! The room quality varied significantly from what was advertised, lacking proper amenities and cleanliness!!! No late-night access policy in place, making returns difficult!!! The bathroom situation needs serious attention!!!

Ilfracombe vibes and brekkie 🌊☀️
Ja, what a jol! Andy and Karen were just the friendliest hosts, always up for a chat and tips around the area. And that full English brekkie? Just dik! Perfect start to the day.
The parking situation was a bit of a hassle, had to hunt around for a spot now and then.

the good, the bad, and the unexpected
While the hospitality of the owners is commendable, the shower and bathroom issues and the potential false advertising regarding room descriptions are concerning. Breakfast timing was a bit rushed, making it hard to savor the meal. Despite noise complaints from other guests, the owners’ Irish humor boosts the experience.

The welcome at The Acorn was warm, as the manager greeted me right at the door. Clean rooms with exceptionally comfy beds made settling in easy. The supply of tea and coffee was generous, a nice touch after a long day. The breakfast served was truly a highlight, particularly the perfectly cooked fry-up which energized my mornings wonderfully. The proximity to the harbour offered splendid views just a short walk away. noise from the owners' lounge was quite disruptive at times, especially with the loud TV. I also found the breakfast timing a bit rushed, which took away from the experience. Despite these issues, the charm of the lodge and the tasty breakfast made it worthwhile. Looking forward to returning in the summer with family for a longer stay.

The room we stayed in had a unique charm, with retro decor that added a certain character to the experience. Breakfast was notable for its variety, especially the homemade cream teas which were a delightful treat during our stay.
Parking arrangements left a lot to be desired, as there were no designated spaces available on-site, forcing us to search for alternatives nearby. the room was smaller than expected with amenities that varied significantly from what we saw in promotional materials, leading to some disappointment. Noise from other guests was an issue too. it made relaxing difficult at times, further hindering the experience. Wi-Fi connectivity was spotty, which was frustrating when trying to plan our day.

Check-in was delayed until 2 PM with minimal interaction from the owner. While the room was clean and warm, the noise from other guests and the owner's loud TV disrupted any chance of relaxation. Breakfast was disappointing, particularly the undercooked bacon, and the overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming. The owner's assumptions about us based on appearances left a negative impression, making the entire experience uncomfortable.

The Acorn is a charming place with welcoming hosts, Ann and Hugh, who create a personable atmosphere. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent, served in a cozy setting with lovely piped music. The attention to detail, such as allocated seating and linen-covered tables, made the dining experience truly enjoyable. It's a gem among the many BnBs in the area, and I will definitely return during my next visit to Ilfracombe.
The church bell at 5 am disturbed my sleep on the first night.
